AY2100 – Ayurvedic Pathology II<br />

Units: 5<br />

This course will discuss the etiopathogenesis, clinical features of diseases of annavaha srotas (digestive<br />

System), pranavaha srotas (respiratory system), raktavaha srotas (circulatory system), mamsa/asthivaha<br />

srotas, vata rogas (neuromusculoskeletal diseases), medovaha srotas (obesity), artavavaha srotas<br />

(gynecological disorders), twak roga (skin disorders) <strong>and</strong> manovaha srotas (psychiatric disorders).<br />

Additionally, an overview of the Western etiology, pathogenesis <strong>and</strong> clinical features of conditions equivalent<br />

to those discussed from an ayurvedic perspective will also be provided. Students will also learn how to check<br />

vitals, <strong>and</strong> per<strong>for</strong>m simple physical exam on clients. This course is a hybrid course <strong>and</strong> there<strong>for</strong>e comprises inclass<br />

<strong>and</strong> on-line meetings as well as e-learning component.<br />

AY2200 – Ayurvedic Herbology <strong>and</strong> Pharmaceutics II<br />

Units: 5<br />

This course explores further into Ayurvedic principles of Herbology <strong>and</strong> Pharmaceutics. Compare <strong>and</strong> contrast<br />

EKA MOOLIKA PRAYOGA (use of single herbs in specific pathologies). Methods of combining herbs into<br />

<strong>for</strong>mulas <strong>for</strong> use in the management of a variety of disorders. Students will be able to compare, contrast, the<br />

functions, indications, <strong>and</strong> contraindications of a variety of <strong>for</strong>mulas.<br />

AY2300 – Ayurvedic Rejuvenation II<br />

Units: 2<br />

This course in<strong>for</strong>ms students about the unique health promotive <strong>and</strong> rejuvenatory concepts of Ayurveda.<br />

Students will learn various RASAYANA herbs <strong>and</strong> <strong>for</strong>mula used in enhancing the body’s resistance against<br />

disease causing factors as well as management of diseases. This course will describe most commonly used<br />

RASAYANA therapies explained by CHARAKA, SUSHRUTHA <strong>and</strong> VAGBATTA. This course will also explain<br />

definition, synonyms, benefits <strong>and</strong> importance of Vajikarana. Properties, doses, methods of administration,<br />

ingredients of vajiakrana <strong>for</strong>mulation also will be discussed.<br />

AY2400 – Marma Points <strong>and</strong> Ayurvedic Detoxification Methods/Body Work II<br />

Units: 5<br />

This course will discuss the deeper underst<strong>and</strong>ing of Ayurvedic MARMA theory <strong>and</strong> PANCHAKARMA with<br />

h<strong>and</strong> on experience of major PANCHAKARMA procedures such as PATRA KIZHI, UDVARTHANA, KAYASEKHA,<br />

PINDA SWEDA, CHOORNA SWEDA <strong>and</strong> NASYA. This course also provides the knowledge to prepare the<br />

<strong>for</strong>mulas/herbal preparations necessary to per<strong>for</strong>m these therapies. The student will gain the experience <strong>and</strong><br />

knowledge of pre <strong>and</strong> post PANCHAKARMA precautions. Additionally, this course will offer an adequate<br />

knowledge to suggest proper diet <strong>and</strong> lifestyle suitable to each procedure.<br />
