ADX1910 – Integrated Clinical Medicine III<br />
Units: 3<br />
Continuing the Integrated Clinical Medicine series, this course covers internal medicine from an integrated<br />
perspective. Students will learn to recognize signs <strong>and</strong> symptoms from an OM perspective; make differential<br />
diagnosis in both Oriental <strong>and</strong> Western medical conditions, <strong>and</strong> develop a treatment plan including<br />
acupuncture, herbal prescriptions, lab <strong>and</strong> diagnostic imaging, <strong>and</strong> appropriate referrals.<br />
Prerequisites: CPM0406, APP1210, APP1310<br />

ADX1920 – Successful Aging<br />
Units: 3<br />
The final course in this concentration series, students will learn how to assist their patients in aging with<br />
intent to avoid or minimize cancers <strong>and</strong> other diseases of aging. Primary focus will be on mental <strong>and</strong> physical<br />
activities <strong>and</strong> nutritional ef<strong>for</strong>ts to avoid disease. Students will discuss how to incorporate these activities <strong>and</strong><br />
lifestyle choices in youth to aid successful aging.<br />

ADX1930 – Advanced Acupuncture Orthopedics<br />
Units: 3<br />
In this course students will build on the knowledge gained in Acupuncture Orthopedics <strong>and</strong> combine the<br />
knowledge gained in the CONA series to diagnose neuromuscular conditions, make necessary referrals, <strong>and</strong><br />
provide treatment using acupuncture, Chinese herbal <strong>for</strong>mulas, <strong>and</strong> other treatment modalities, including the<br />
use of salves <strong>and</strong> ointments <strong>for</strong> topical application.<br />

AE0201 – Anatomy of the Extremities<br />
Units: 4<br />
This course addresses structure, function <strong>and</strong> clinical concepts of the human appendicular system. Emphasis<br />
is placed on the interrelationships between structure <strong>and</strong> function of the appendicular system. Course<br />
instruction includes lecture, human dissection laboratory, small group discussion sessions <strong>and</strong> independent<br />
working projects. Laboratory activities will include dissection, the study of models <strong>and</strong> problem-based small<br />
group discussions.<br />

AHB102 – Materia Medica I<br />
Units: 3<br />
This course introduces the student to the history, basic philosophy <strong>and</strong> foundations of Chinese herbs <strong>and</strong><br />
<strong>for</strong>mulas. This includes how herbs are classified, acquired, selected, prepared, combined, <strong>and</strong> used in clinical<br />
practice. The student is also introduced to the herbal categories <strong>and</strong> the distinguishing features of each, <strong>and</strong><br />
will study a number of specific herbs within Warm the Interior <strong>and</strong> Dispel Cold; Aromatic Herbs that Open the<br />
Orifices; <strong>and</strong> Substances <strong>for</strong> External Application categories.<br />
