ACMP401 – Clinical Medicine II: <strong>Principles</strong> of Clinical Medicine<br />

Units: 5<br />

This course is designed to prepare the Term 4 PA students <strong>for</strong> clinical rotations. The course will include<br />

lectures, small group problem solving, <strong>and</strong> active learning. The students ability to conduct a medical<br />

interview, per<strong>for</strong>m the appropriate physical exam, present the case to their clinical preceptor, <strong>and</strong> document<br />

in the medical record will be assessed. Students will be instructed in how to per<strong>for</strong>m clinical procedures as<br />

part of their case studies. The focus of this course will be to utilize the knowledge obtained in the didactic<br />

curriculum to develop strong problem-solving skills.<br />

ADX302 – Physical Examination<br />

Units: 2<br />

Physical Examination is a beginning clinical skills course with the main emphasis on examination of the human<br />

body. The student will learn to select examination procedures that correlate with the patient's history, to<br />

per<strong>for</strong>m those procedures using appropriate physical examination tools <strong>and</strong> techniques, <strong>and</strong> to integrate the<br />

findings with the historical data. The student will also combine history taking <strong>and</strong> record keeping skills with<br />

the physical examination to facilitate beginning clinical decision making as a core part of clinical practice.<br />

Prerequisites: AAN101, AAN202<br />

Corequisites: AAN303<br />

ADX403 – NMS (Neuromusculoskeletal) Examination<br />

Units: 2<br />

Neuromusculoskeletal Examination is a clinical skills course with the main emphasis on the neurologic <strong>and</strong><br />

musculoskeletal examinations of the human body. The student will learn the essentials of neurological <strong>and</strong><br />

musculoskeletal examinations <strong>and</strong> the principles of differential diagnosis of neurological <strong>and</strong> musculoskeletal<br />

diseases. The student will learn to select examination procedures that correlate with the patient's history, to<br />

per<strong>for</strong>m those procedures, to integrate the findings with the historical data, <strong>and</strong> to document relevant clinical<br />

findings. The method of instruction will include lectures, demonstrations <strong>and</strong> clinical skill laboratories.<br />

Prerequisites: MAOM: AAN101, AAN202, AAN303<br />

Restrictions: MAOM, MSPA programs only<br />

ADX701 – Clinical Sciences <strong>and</strong> Medicine I<br />

Units: 3<br />

This course covers the etiology, epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis <strong>and</strong> treatment of selected<br />

cardiovascular, nervous, gastrointestinal <strong>and</strong> genitourinary disorders.<br />

Prerequisites: CPM0406, ADX403<br />

Restrictions: MAOM program only<br />

ADX802 – Clinical Sciences/Medicine II<br />

Units: 3<br />

This course covers the etiology, patho-physiology, diagnosis <strong>and</strong> treatment of pulmonary, infections<br />

hematological, gynecology/obstetrical pediatrics, ENT, <strong>and</strong> dermatological disorders.<br />

Prerequisites: CPM0406, ADX403, CDX0601<br />

Restrictions: MAOM program only<br />
