For each recipe, the estimated energy,<br />

protein, fat, carbohydrate, dietary fibre,<br />

calcium, iron, zinc and vitamin A are<br />

presented per portion of the cooked dish,<br />

with a portion of cooked rice where specified.<br />

(Other serving suggestions, such as vegetable<br />

side dishes, are not included in nutritional<br />

calculations.) The percentage of daily energy<br />

and nutrient requirements met by eating one<br />

portion is provided as an approximation only,<br />

as different groups of people have different<br />

nutrient requirements.<br />

Each recipe is also described in terms of<br />

containing Protein, Micronutrient and/or<br />

Energy foods – the three food groups<br />

recommended in Timor-<strong>Leste</strong>’s food-based<br />

dietary guidelines to be eaten daily for a<br />

healthy diet.<br />

at the end of the book (see ‘Nutritional<br />
