CONCLUSIONES<br />
Los modelos utilizados para la<br />
estimación de la biomasa en los bosques<br />
son una herramienta de gran utilidad<br />
partiendo de los datos recogidos en un<br />
inventario, en este sentido es necesario<br />
disponer de dichos modelos para todos los<br />
estados de desarrollo presentes en una masa<br />
forestal. Este estudio presenta ecuaciones<br />
alométricas para ejemplares juveniles de<br />
Pinus pinea. La utilidad de las mismas se<br />
ve reducida cuando los ejemplares son<br />
excesivamente pequeños.<br />
Los bosques mediterráneos, además de<br />
su alta importancia ecológica, presentan<br />
capacidad para almacenar carbono que<br />
puede ser cuantificada a partir de los datos<br />
calculados de biomasa tanto aérea como<br />
radicular.<br />
Este tipo trabajos contribuye a un mejor<br />
conocimiento sobre la fijación de carbono<br />
en los ecosistemas mediterráneos y es<br />
deseable la continuación de las líneas de<br />
investigación en esta materia.<br />
