The Zoom Effect Panasonic brings zoom to the forefront with Lumix model with 60x optical zoom NOMADIC LIFESTYLE [ CAMERAS ] S RICOH THETA 360 DEGREES IN A SINGLE SHOT Ricoh describes the Theta as “the world’s first massproduced imaging device that encapsulates fully spherical scenes with one shot.” It’s a small, point-and-shoot camera that features two 180-degree wide-angle lenses mounted on opposite sides of the device. When one captures an image with the Theta, the result is a 360-degree image that places the viewer at the center of a 3D scene. Comes with a free iOS companion app. » HALL 2.2 / STAND 110 UNIQUE SELLING POINTS The Lumix G is a strong contender and soon to be the successor of the DSLR. During IFA 2013, Panasonic received the 2013-2014 EISA award for best photo-video camera and the best Compact System Zoom lens. Mr Sebastian Drawert, Manager DSC Lumix G Panasonic Marketing Europe, reveals the key to their longstanding success in digital cameras as well as product highlights to discover at IFA. IMAGE COMPACT EASY INTERFACE 360-degree image that places the viewer at the center of a 3D scen Easy to carry A free iOS companion app lets users control remotely from any iPhone 5, iPhone 4S or iPod touch (4th- and 5thgeneration models are supported). Since the first Lumix series in 2001, Panasonic has earned a strong reputation in digital cameras. What technologies or product features do you think contributed the most to Lumix success? We saw the need for a compact camera which produced great pictures while allowing the user to really zoom into a subject. This led to our hugely successful TZ series. Another innovation by Panasonic is optical image stabilisation (OIS). In 2008 we introduced the world’s first Digital Single Lens Mirrorless, the G1. The Lumix G is a strong contender and soon to be the successor of the DSLR. The camera business is under pressure from mobile devices with embedded cameras. What is the future roadmap for digital cameras? Our Lumix cameras are particularly strong in the higher quality and feature specific segments of the compact camera market. These higher value segments are less affected by a smartphone user who is looking to capture a dayto-day situation rather than an activity such as mountain climbing, where our tough FT range comes into play, or at a music concert where our new FZ70/72, with 60 times zoom, is perfect. What will you be showing new at IFA this year? Only a couple of weeks ago we announced the world’s first DSLM to have a builtin 90-degree tilt-able Live View Finder (LVF) and the latest camera to join our Lumix G family, the GX7. In the compact area we are displaying our new FZ70/72 bridge camera, with an unbelievable 60 times optical zoom. We’ll also be showing off the new XS3. It’s the stylish brother of the design classic XS1 with outstanding picture quality, due to its CMOS sensor. Hall 5.2 Stand 101 “Our Lumix cameras are particularly strong in the higher quality” OLLOCLIP 3-IN-1 LENS As improved smartphone cameras take a greater chunk of the mass camera market, a host of manufacturers are introducing a range of relevant accessories. The Olloclip, for example, is a quickconnect lens adaptor for the iPhone that gives users three lenses in one. With the option to switch between fish-eye, macro or wide-angle lens, the Olloclip is a simple, portable accessory that significantly enhances iPhone photography. » HALL 14.1 / STAND 126a UNIQUE SELLING POINTS COMPLEMENTARY MOBILE STAYS CLEAN Works with most favourite photo apps.
