42 | Outlook | Sábado, 19.12.2009 VIDA Os pés pisam um vidro grosso. Dá para a rua e ilumina o interior. Nele uma frase de Herberto Helder transformada em objecto de design e que fala de um absoluto, uma casa, uma leitura pouco óbvia como Guta gosta que seja a arte: desafiadora GGuta Moura Guedes, designer. É assim? A maior parte das vezes, é. E quando não é? (Risos). Quando preenche um formulário o que coloca no espaço onde diz ‘profissão’? Varia. Em função de quê? Mesmo nunca tendo estudado design – estudei dois anos design, sou uma ‘self- -made de designer’ – colocaria designer, sem dúvida. É isso que habitualmente coloco. Mas tenho desempenhado funções e trabalhos muito distintos que continuo a encaixar nessa categoria de design porque faço design estratégico, design de serviços, design de conceitos. Há uma frase de Herberto Helder gravada na casa que está a recuperar. “A casa - como direi?, – absoluta”. Aquela casa é um absoluto? Gosto muito da escrita do Herberto Helder. Uma das coisas que me fascina nele e nos temas que escolhe é a ligação forte à arquitectura. Ando sempre a ler a poesia dele a tirar frases que vou apontado. Essas frases são o quê? Inspirações? São mais identificações do que inspirações. São frases em que me identifico. Tenho os livros sempre todos sublinhados… Mas são sempre identificações ou choques abruptos, coisas que não nos pertencem mas que mexem muito connosco. Neste caso não. “Uma casa absoluta” porque estou a construir aquela casa, a minha primeira casa sozinha. Minha e dos meus filhos. Achei perfeito, sabendo que uma casa absoluta nunca existe. O absoluto não existe também. Fazer uma casa é uma coisa muito exigente. Não digo que gosto muito de fazer muitas casas. Gosto imenso de olhar para as casas e para os espaços construídos, mas custa-me fazer uma casa. É muito exigente. Puxa muito por mim. Estou a gostar. Não sei dizer se é a minha casa para o resto da vida. Acho que não é. Nunca é… Há uma espécie de vertigem. E tornou a frase do Herberto num objecto de design. (Risos) Queria que a frase do Herberto passasse pelas mãos de um designer de comunicação e que ele brincasse com as palavras. Passei ao Nuno Luz, designer da Experimenta, e ele fez aquela brincadeira que nem sempre permite uma leitura óbvia de uma frase que já não é óbvia por si. Andámos ali de roda de uma série de ideias dele e chegámos aquela forma que funciona. Gosto imenso dessa ideia. Gosto disso em tudo o que faço. A maior parte das vezes acho que construímos coisas que são muito passivas, pouco exigentes. As pessoas devem ser solicitadas a “perder tempo” com as coisas. Que lugar ocupam as peças de design na sua casa? As minhas casas são muito vazias, têm pouquissímos objectos. Os objectos cansam-me. Não gosto de ‘gadgets’, não gosto de coisinhas. Nada. Nada. Por natureza não procuro isso. Procuro música, discos, livros, isso sim são coisas que gosto de ter. Mas não sou uma coleccionadora, nunca coleccionaria, não tenho obsessão de ter peças assinadas; de ter ícones do design na minha casa. Não tenho. Tenho coisas simplicíssimas. Não tenho nada vontade de uma casa cheia de objectos desenhados por autores conhecidos ou que sejam referências no mundo do design. Tenho obsessão por objectos que funcionem bem. Adoro uma mesa assim comoesta[agarranamesadocaféàfrente da qual está sentada], uma cadeira confortável, uma cama como deve de ser. Isso sim, gosto muito. A palavra ‘design’ banalizou-se? Sim. Deixámos que tivesse um sentido… Ouve-se dizer “isto é um objecto de design”, ou “isto é muito design”. É uma coisa extraordinária. Tudo o que vemos em nosso redor, seja um porta-chaves um clip, ou um copo, foi desenhado. Portanto, tudo é design em certa medida. Pode é ser bom ou mau. E isso é visto comparando o objectivo que se quer quando se desenha uma peça e a performance dessa peça, a sua eficácia. Quando faço uma casa ou quando faço um escritório, é claro que o design está presente. Mesmo que a casa estivesse toda vazia, mesmo que a casa só tenha três ou quatro coisas. O desenho do vazio é também uma opção, é um acto de design. Depois há peças mais icónicas de design de autores de que gosto imenso e que gostava de ter, por exemplo. Está numa fase de mudança de vida e não só de mudança de casa… É engraçado porque às vezes leio isso e não é bem assim. Há 12 anos que faço consistentemente uma coisa: a ExperimentaDesign. Essa é a base. Depois faço muitas coisas diferentes – não só “ Em termos profissionais as coisas não acontecem por acaso. Olho sempre para o que fiz até agora e a ligação entre as peças é perfeita. São sempre consequência do que fiz antes diferentes, porque são trabalhos distintos, mas também geograficamente diferentes e em condições diferentes. Faz parte da minha natureza. Gosto de fazer muitas coisas distintas e tenho uma linha de trabalho que vai unindo aquilo que faço enquanto plataforma. Essaéafontede alimento para tudo o resto. Tenho o cuidado de manter sempre esse tipo de bases em várias vertentes da minha vida; na familiar também. Há pouco, numa conversa informal, dizia que as pessoas a acham arrogante. Qual a razão dessa imagem que criou? Quando sabemos muito bem aquilo que queremos fazer e por onde queremos ir e em que direcção, às vezes isso pode ser visto como uma forma de arrogância. Sou muito afirmativa na forma de ser, embora depois seja muito afectiva e ligada às pessoas. Verdadeiramente afectiva. Mas sei muito bem o que quero e por onde quero ir. E às vezes isso é algo intimidante. E onde quer ir? Em termos profissionais? As coisas não acontecem por acaso. Olho sempre para o que fiz até agora e a ligação entre as peças é perfeita, são sempre consequência do que fiz antes, ou onde estive antes e de pessoas com quem me cruzei e da forma como faço a gestão desses contactos e desses entusiasmos. No fundo sou muito selectiva em relação a esse ‘network’, de pessoas e de influências. É um ecossistema muito rico e que vai criando uma série de oportunidades. E depois, ou se está lá ou não está, ou se quer ou não aceitá-las. Mas as coisas não acontecem por acaso. São sempre fruto de um percurso e de uma linha de trabalho.Eaformacomome posiciono funciona como uma espécie de íman que vai atraindo pessoas, projectos, convites, desafios. Sou uma provocadora desses convites. Foi esse íman que atraiu os responsáveis pelo novo equipamento cultural de Paris, o La Gaité, que a convidaram para comissariar o primeiro núcleo de programação? O Jerome Delormas (director-geral do La Gaité) veio cá em Setembro de 2009 ter um primeiro encontro comigo. Conhecia o meu trabalho e queria falar comigo sobre uma possível ligação entre a Experimenta e Paris. Tão abstracto quanto isso. Depois, estivemos em contacto mais duas ou três vezes e ele esteve a assistir a toda a semana inaugural da Experimenta Design. Voltámos a falar sobre o que podíamos fazer em conjunto com o La Gaité, com a Experimenta, com Paris, com Lisboa. Porque à Experimenta e a mim interessa muito essa ligação com as cidades que ultrapassa um trabalho às vezes mais pontual com outros países ou outros espaços e o Jerome insistia sempre: “tens que vir a Paris e tens que ver La Gaité”.
