”Innovations are approached with a skeptical and cautious air, and the late majority do not<br />

adopt until most others in their system have already done so…most of the uncertainty<br />

about a new idea must be removed before the late majority feel that it is safe to adopt”<br />

(Rogers 1971: 284).<br />

Laggards: Traditional<br />

Denne gruppe er den sidste der tager innovation til sig. Det er en gruppe, som holder sine<br />

traditioner i hævd og ser en innovation i fortidens lys. De har ofte en lav social stutus et et<br />

lille socialt netværk. ”Resistance to innovations on the of laggards may be entirely rational<br />

from the laggards´ viewpoint, as their resources are limited and they must be certain that<br />

a new idea will not fail before they can adopt” (Rogers 1971: 285).<br />

Rogers har opstillet en model for de fem adoptertyper (Rogers 1971: 281). Modellen viser<br />

hvordan en innovation bliver optaget over tid og hvor mange procent den enkelte gruppe<br />

udgør. I nedenstående figur illustrerer x-aksen adoption over tid, mens y-aksen står for<br />

antallet af personer (i %), der har taget innovationen til sig:<br />
