L.L. When you stand here on the large sun terrace, the
Sonnendeck 1400, at 1,407 altitude metres and take in the
wonderful view, what goes through your head? Do you ever
get enough of the landscape and its unique natural beauty?
T.B. It is a very beautiful place. I like to have a coffee on the
terrace and enjoy the quiet and the view sometimes. Especially
in winter, when the skiers come down from Albona – in those
moments I am extremely thankful. It is an honour for me that
I get to be here and continue to manage the Post for a few more
years. It’s almost impossible to get enough of the view. If you
love the mountains, this place is perfect for you.
Kulinarik & Genuss
L.L. The history of the former Alte Post
dates back to the year 1820. What facets still
evoke the post office from back then?
T.B. The tradition is most present in the
old parlours and the wine cellar. Those are
the original places that remained untouched
during the big renovations in 2015. We made
a point of preserving these places the way
they were back then. During wine tastings
the guests can marvel at the wine cellar
with the old cross vault. The old parlours are
reserved for the à-la-carte restaurant and
they are perfect for breathing in the old flair.
The anterior parlour is painted white which
used to be a sign of prosperity. The posterior
parlour is panelled in old, dark arolla pine
wood. Preserving those old, traditional rooms
was definitely worth it.
L.L. After the big renovations in summer of 2015 the APRÈS
POST HOTEL now shines like new. What comforts can the
guests look forward to?
T.B. A lot of things changed here in 2015, we renovated the
house from top to bottom. And we did add our own ideas quite
a bit, but we also didn’t want to overload the hotel with pictures
and decoration. It was supposed to reflect us: straightforward
and with little frills.
Thomas Brändle and his wife
Irene have been in charge of
APRÈS POST HOTEL in
Stuben since 2002. After careful
renovations in 2015 the two now
lead it into a new era. Thomas
Brändle is supported by his sisters
Susanne, at the hotel reception,
and Jacqueline who is in charge
of the mountain restaurant by
the Albona halfway-station. The
Brändle family’s history in Stuben
goes back to the 1920s – and
almost 100 years later the family
still embraces its tight bonds
every day.
