L.L. When you’re out and about on the Arlberg on your
skis, which is your favourite slope? Do you have a secret tip
for us, perhaps?
F.K. / I’d say my favourite slope is Mattun down from Valluga
to St. Anton.

L.L. You come from a family that has been strongly
connected with winter sports and mountaineering for generations.
Does it look like this tradition will be continued?
F.K. I have one daughter who is a passionate and good
skier. But since her professional perspectives have shifted in a
different direction she will not become a skiing instructor.
L.L. Ski Arlberg became Austria’s largest connected skiing
area in 2016. What chances for the Arlberg do you see in the
new connection?
F.K. The new connection with Lech Zürs is great and the
guests love it. Of course I am in favour of such connections
– but at the same time I’m in favour of preserving certain
things. There must be valleys or regions one will only every
be able to explore on skins. In the skiing schools you can also
see that the guests want to move away from the heavily frequented
slopes. That way it’s easier to leave everyday stress
behind and use skiing as a means to decelerate.
