L.L. You fought your way back to the top and did not just
win several World Cup titles, but also Olympia in Sotchi.
What did that feel like?
M.M. Sotchi took place towards the end of my career and
it was the last possibility I had to win an Olympic medal,
compared with other athletes I was already quite old at that
point. Which is why the triumph in Sotchi was so special, I
really appreciate that victory. After the setbacks and injuries,
the success in Sotchi was all the sweeter.

L.L. In 2015 you announced your retirement. What does
your everyday life look like today?
M.M. In winter I keep busy at my Aprés Ski Bar Krazy Kanguruh,
and when I’m not there I’m busy with our horses. We
breed thoroughbred arabian horses. That means that I ride
every day and train the horses, too. That way I’d say I never
get bored and my daily life is rather varied.
