2 Getting Started<br />
Instrument Rack Mounting<br />
The <strong>Agilent</strong> <strong>34980A</strong> Mainframe can be mounted in a standard 19 inch<br />
instrument rack or in an <strong>Agilent</strong> rack cabinet. Orientation can be either<br />
forward mounted (front panel facing the front of the cabinet) or reverse<br />
mounted (rear panel facing the front of the cabinet).<br />
Either method will require a set of cabinet rails to support the<br />
instrument’s weight and planned orientation, and a set of mounting<br />
brackets to secure the unit to the cabinet.<br />
<strong>Agilent</strong>- supplied rail kits are available for <strong>Agilent</strong> cabinets only; for all<br />
other racks contact the rack’s vendor. The following rack mounting kits<br />
and rail kits are available from <strong>Agilent</strong>:<br />

For forward rack mounting, use the short brackets from the <strong>Agilent</strong><br />
Standard rack mount kit or Y1130A Rack Mount Kit. For <strong>Agilent</strong> rack<br />
cabinets, use the E3663A Basic Rail Kit.<br />
For reverse rack mounting use the longer brackets (see figure below)<br />
from the Y1130A Rack Mount Kit. For <strong>Agilent</strong> rack cabinets, use the<br />
E3664AC Third Party Rail Kit.<br />
