The Committee submitted its report to Governement of India on 11.11.1997, Government
of India constituted an Inter Ministerial Committee headed by, Secretary (Rural
Development) and included representative of U.P.Government with a view to finalise
the Government’s view on the recommendations of the Hanumatha Rao Committee.
The report of the Inter-Ministerial Committee was submitted to the Government during March,
1998. Further action for the implementation of the recommendations would be taken once
they are approved.
5.5 TARGETS
The following major activities have been planned during the year 1998-99:-
1. Completion of Excavation/core stripping in the Main Dam.
2 Completion of excavation of 4 Nos. Control Gate Shaft in Intake area.
3. Engagement of Agency for Main Civil Works of Spillway.
4. Completion of crane beam concreting in Power House.
5. Completion of excavation in Butterfly Valve Chamber.
6. Completion of excavation in Penstock Assembly Chamber Horizontal Penstock.
7. Completion of excavation in Machine Hall/Transformer Hall.
8. Start of concreting in Machine Hall of Power House.
9. Completion of excavation of 2 No. Tail Race Tunnels.
5.6 COMMISIONING SCHEDULE
Tehri Hydro Power Project 1000 MW (4x250 MW) is likely to be commissioned by
March, 2002.
5.7 EXPENDITURE ON THE PROJECT
The total expenditure incurred so far on the project till March, 1998 was Rs. 1650.86
crore (provisional) (including Rs. 8.41 crore spent on associated Transmission System
being executed by PGCIL).
6. NATHPA JHAKRI POWER CORPORATION (NJPC):
NATHPA JHAKRI HYDRO ELECTRIC POWER PROJECT (6X250 MW):
NJPC is presently executing its firs mega project, namely, Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Electric
Power Project (NJHPP) in Himachal Pradesh with the resources funded by World Bank.
