(viii) A pilot project for installation of 500 Electric Meters with Time-of-the-Day (TOD)
facility, sanctioned in February, 1997 for contribution of Rs.88 lakh (50% of the
total cost) is under implementation by the West Bengal State Electricity Board in
respect of the HT consumers. The installation of meters and other necessary
equipment is scheduled to be completed in 18 months.
(ix) A project for implementation of the recommendations of the Energy Audit Report
on Shakti Bhavan Complex, Lucknow of UPSEB, sanctioned in March, 1997 for
contribution of Rs.13.485 lakh (50% of the total cost) is under implementation
by UPSEB. The project has a completion schedule of 11 months.
(x) A Project for power generation through waste heat recovery from existing nonrecovery
coke ovens in and around Dhanbad area, sanctioned in March, 1997 for
contribution of Rs.4.25 lakh (85% of the total cost), is under implementation
through Central Fuel Research Institute (CFRI), Dhanbad. The project has a
completion schedule of 10 months.
(xi) A project for replacement of incandescent bulbs by Compact Fluorescent Lamps
(CFLs) in Leh has been sanctioned in October, 1997 for contribution of Rs.2.10
lakh (50% of the total cost) for implementation by Ladakh Autonomous Hill
Development Council (LAHDC). The project has a completion schedule of 6
months.
10.3.3 Other Projects for Energy Conservation in Transmission & Distribution
(i) The project for setting up of Energy Meter Testing Facility, sanctioned in January,
1994 at a cost of Rs.69.96 lakh (revised to Rs.86.51 lakh in September, 1995) has
been successfully completed by the Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) in
1997-98.
(ii) The R&D project on reduction of losses in electricity distribution system through
suitable capacitors using a Solid State Switch, sanctioned in December, 1995 for
a contribution of Rs.10 lakh, is under implementation through the Electrical
Research & Development Association (ERDA), Vadodara. The project is expected
to be completed by December, 1998.
(iii) The R&D project on development of integrated energy efficient Stirling engine
Battery/Inverter System for Remote Area Power Generation sanctioned in March,
1995 for a contribution of Rs.23.20 lakh, is under implementation by the Central
Power Research Institute (CPRI). The project is expected to be completed by
December, 1998.
