important court decisions on labour matters and important tripartite<br />

deliberations.<br />

• Advice<br />

They advice members on complex legal provisions when such advice is sought.<br />

• Representation<br />

They represent employer’s point <strong>of</strong> view before the government on all labour<br />

problems.<br />

• Education<br />

They educate members on important labour issues by holding seminars,<br />

conferences and training programmes.<br />

NLC examined the working <strong>of</strong> employers associations and recommended that they should:<br />

• Undertake promotion <strong>of</strong> collective bargaining at various levels.<br />

• Encourages observance and implementation by their members <strong>of</strong> bipartite and<br />

tripartite agreements.<br />

• Expedite implementation <strong>of</strong> wage awards by members.<br />

• Work towards elimination <strong>of</strong> unfair labour practices by employers.<br />

• Encourages adoption by members <strong>of</strong> personnel policies conducive to<br />

productivity and industrial peace.<br />

• Promote rationalization <strong>of</strong> management or organization to improve<br />

productivity.<br />

• Arrange employer’s education in the concept <strong>of</strong> labour partnership in industry.<br />

• Work towards collective welfare <strong>of</strong> its members through training, research and<br />

communication in the field <strong>of</strong> labour management relations.
