William, 2 1 <strong>Ralph</strong> ), son of Jonah <strong>and</strong> Elizabeth (South-<br />

gate) <strong>Earle</strong>, b. April 22, 1800, in Leicester, Mass.; m.\<br />

April 25, 1838, Hannah Carpenter, of Uxbridge, Mass. I<br />

d. Jan. 19, 1853, in Leicester. His widow removed to<br />

"the West"; m. Elijah Wilson, <strong>and</strong> lives, in 1887, in<br />

Orion, Oakl<strong>and</strong> Co., Mich.<br />

Amos was engaged, for some years, in making h<strong>and</strong>-cards ; <strong>and</strong><br />

subsequently in the manufacture of satinets, in the building upon <strong>his</strong><br />

father's homestead (now Mannville), which had previously been<br />

occupied by Pliny <strong>Earle</strong> & Brothers, for the building of carding<br />

machines.<br />

<strong>The</strong> children of Amos S. <strong>and</strong> Hannah (Carpenter) <strong>Earle</strong><br />
