), son of William <strong>and</strong> Mary (Lawton) <strong>Earle</strong>, b.<br />

in Dartmouth (now Westport), Mass.; m. (intentions<br />

pub. Jan. 27, 1776), Edith Brownell, of Little Compton,<br />

R. I. ; d. about 1786, in Westport. His widow m.<br />

Thomas Briggs in 1787.<br />

Priscilla, dau. of John <strong>and</strong> Priscilla Durfee, of Tiverton, .<br />

R. I. He was " brought up " at <strong>his</strong> gr<strong>and</strong>father William<br />

<strong>Earle</strong>'s.<br />

<strong>Ralph</strong> 1<br />

), son of William <strong>and</strong> Mary (Lawton) <strong>Earle</strong>, b.<br />

May 4, 1754, in Dartmouth (now Westport), Mass. ; m.<br />

1st, May 5, 1782, Mary Hicks,* of Dartmouth; issue,<br />

one child: 2d, Sept., 1789, Priscilla Hicks* (b. Oct. 25,<br />

1763; d. June 8, 1842), of Westport ; issue, eight chil-<br />

dren. He removed, in the year 1800, to Saratoga Co.,<br />

N. Y., <strong>and</strong> d. May 8, 1834, m Milton, in that county.<br />

May 4, 17995 John Cronkhite deeded one hundred acres of l<strong>and</strong> in<br />

Providence, Saratoga Co., N. Y., to Stephen <strong>Earle</strong>, of Westport,<br />

for $875.<br />

<strong>The</strong>ir children were :<br />

5 1 7— 1 - Pardon <strong>Earle</strong>, b. Sept. 18, 1781 ; m. 1st, Nancy Sherman ;<br />

2d, Polly Howe.<br />

* Sisters, <strong>and</strong> Westport was set off from Dartmouth, between the two<br />

marriages.
