), son of <strong>Ralph</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />

Dorcas (Sprague) <strong>Earle</strong>; m. Mary (d. 1735), dau. of<br />

Daniel <strong>and</strong> Elizabeth (Cook) Wilcox; <strong>and</strong> d. in 1728.<br />

John had taken the oath of fidelity, or Freeman's oath, in Dartmouth<br />

before March 24, 1686, but he afterwards removed to Tiver-<br />

ton. Before t<strong>his</strong> removal <strong>and</strong> in October, 1686, John Sprague, son<br />

of John <strong>and</strong> gr<strong>and</strong>son of Francis Sprague, <strong>and</strong> Lydia, <strong>his</strong> wife, con-<br />

veyed to him all right, or claim of inheritance, in "one half of a<br />

purchase of L<strong>and</strong> Lying In y c township of Dartmouth, In y e county<br />

of Bristoll, where my Uncle Ralf Earl now lives." T<strong>his</strong> was the<br />

l<strong>and</strong> which Francis Sprague gave to <strong>his</strong> son-in-law, <strong>Ralph</strong> <strong>Earle</strong><br />

[2-1].<br />

In <strong>his</strong> will, which was executed February 12, 1719, he mentions<br />

<strong>his</strong> wife Mary ; sons John, Daniel <strong>and</strong> Benjamin ; <strong>and</strong> daughters<br />

Mary, Rebecca <strong>and</strong> Elizabeth. <strong>The</strong> inventory was .£251. 6s. id.<br />

<strong>The</strong> children of John <strong>and</strong> Mary (Wilcox) <strong>Earle</strong> were :<br />
