Worcester. Here he is known as a horticulturist, <strong>and</strong>, until quite<br />

recently, has been engaged in the sale of agricultural implements <strong>and</strong><br />

seeds.<br />

He is most widely known by the general public as a man deeply<br />

interested <strong>and</strong> active in the temperance movement. T<strong>his</strong> is no new<br />

thing with him. He was the president of a temperance societv at<br />

the time of <strong>his</strong> residence in Dover. He now holds a prominent posi-<br />

tion among the prohibitionists of Massachusetts, <strong>and</strong> has recently<br />

been nominated, by their political party, as c<strong>and</strong>idate for the office<br />

of Governor of the Commonwealth. In 18S6, he was their c<strong>and</strong>i-<br />

date for the place of United States Senator.<br />

Ellen A. Hedge, <strong>and</strong> is a dealer in general merch<strong>and</strong>ise<br />

<strong>and</strong> drugs in Waukon. He has been a member of both<br />

houses of the legislature of Iowa.<br />
