Stephen C. <strong>Earle</strong>, Architect, of the same city.<br />

Sir : <strong>The</strong> National Convention of friends of Immediate Emancipa-<br />

tion, now in session at the City Hall, in t<strong>his</strong> city, having resolved<br />

that it is their duty to concentrate their votes at the coming presi-<br />

dential election, have, with cordial unanimity, selected you as their<br />

c<strong>and</strong>idate for the office of Vice-President of the United States, <strong>and</strong><br />

James G. Birney, Esq., of New York, as their c<strong>and</strong>idate for the<br />

office of President of the same. And they have earnestly recommended<br />

these c<strong>and</strong>idates to the support <strong>and</strong> the suffrages of the<br />

friends of human rights, as men abundantly qualified <strong>and</strong> worthy to<br />

fill the high offices to which they would elect them.<br />

With sentiments of the highest esteem, we are your friends <strong>and</strong><br />
