<strong>The</strong> children of Lawton <strong>and</strong> Mary (Palmer) <strong>Earle</strong> were :<br />

503-1. Lawton <strong>Earle</strong>, b. Nov. 15, 1767; m. (intentions pub.<br />

Nov., 1789), Ruth Borden, of Tiverton, R. I. He removed<br />

to the State of New York with <strong>his</strong> uncle Paul.<br />

He had no children by <strong>his</strong> first wife, but is said to have<br />

had a second, by whom he had issue.<br />

504-2. Elizabeth <strong>Earle</strong>, b. about 1770; d. unm.<br />

[233-2] . John 5 <strong>Earle</strong> ( William,* John,* William, 2 <strong>Ralph</strong> 1<br />

),<br />

son of William <strong>and</strong> Mary (Lawton) <strong>Earle</strong>, b. Nov. 12,<br />

1745, being twin with <strong>his</strong> brother Caleb, in Dartmouth<br />

(now Westport), Mass.; m. April 11, 1770, Priscilla,<br />

dau. of David Hilliard (b. Sept. 26, 1749; d. May 30,<br />

1840), of Little Compton, R. I. ; d. Feb. 22, 1828.<br />

He lived in Westport some years after marriage, <strong>and</strong> then removed<br />

to New Bedford, Mass., where he died. His wife died in Little<br />

Compton, R. I., at her daughter Lydia's.<br />

John was Collector of Westport in 1788 <strong>and</strong> 1799, <strong>and</strong> Warden in<br />

1791.<br />

"June 7, 1789. John Earl's ear mark for <strong>his</strong> creatures is a fork in<br />

each ear, <strong>and</strong> a hole in the right."<br />

<strong>The</strong> children were all born in Westport.<br />

505-1. Lydia <strong>Earle</strong>, b. Oct. 28, 1772; d. Nov. 15, 1773.<br />

506-2. Benjamin <strong>Earle</strong>, b. Nov. 11, 1774; m. Mary Soule.<br />

507-3. Abel <strong>Earle</strong>, b. July 16, 1776; d. Nov. S, 1776.<br />

508-4. Hilliard <strong>Earle</strong>, b. April 15, 177S ; m. Mary Ware.<br />

509-5. Lydia <strong>Earle</strong>, b. Sept. 3, 1780; m. June 24, 179S, Hiram<br />

Soule, of Westport.<br />

510-6. Peleg <strong>Earle</strong>, b. March 18, 1783 ; d. unm., July 1, 1805,<br />

at sea.<br />

511-7. Thomas <strong>Earle</strong>, b. July 19, 1786; m. Mary Brown.<br />

with all <strong>his</strong> children to Galway, N. Y.<br />
