<strong>The</strong> following selections, mostly from information received too late<br />

for insertion in its proper place, will contribute to the completeness<br />

of the <strong>his</strong>tory of several families.<br />

Upon the farm owned, in 1882, by Captain B. F. Wing, near the<br />

head of the Apponaganset River, in Dartmouth, Mass., there is a<br />

small cemetery containing from twelve to fifteen graves, two of<br />

which, as appears from the inscriptions on the head-stones, are those<br />

of <strong>Ralph</strong> <strong>Earle</strong>, Jr. [8-2], <strong>and</strong> Joseph <strong>Earle</strong>, Jr. [66-3]. <strong>The</strong>re<br />

are no inscriptions at any of the other graves. It is probable that<br />

t<strong>his</strong> was the private burial place of the <strong>Earle</strong>s in that vicinity. All<br />

the public burying-grounds in Dartmouth, at that time, are recorded<br />

in the Town records.<br />

[145-3]. Mary <strong>Earle</strong>. James Lawton, Jr., her husb<strong>and</strong>, was a<br />

saddler in Leicester, Mass. In 1739 he bought of Rev.<br />

David Parsons, of that town, a grist-mill <strong>and</strong> forty acres<br />

of l<strong>and</strong> at the outlet of the Town meadow, one-half mile<br />

west of the Academy, <strong>and</strong> near the eastern foot of Mt.<br />

Pleasant, where the brick card-factory belonging to<br />

Sargent Brothers now st<strong>and</strong>s.<br />
