Communications Platform for Open Systems (CPCommOS)
1. Prior to installing the optional portion of the Compatibility Package -
2.1-CP12.1SAILCC-NET.sup, the following is recommended:
a. Create your CPCommOS 3R1A configuration in an OS 2200 file. Refer to the
Communications Platform for Open System Configuration and Operations Guide
for a description of the new CPCommOS configuration statements. A
configuration example is also provided in the second file of the CPCommOS
release tape, element CONFIGSOURCE. For now, ignore the references to
SLOT, DEVICE, and FUNCTION until you get to step 2. To determine what is
currently configured on your system, go to SAILCC configuration and choose
network and then network interfaces. You can look at the configuration you have
previously supplied through SAILCC if you want to create the same network
configuration for CPCommOS 3R1A.
b. Select each network name (eth2, eth3, and so forth) and copy this information to
a spreadsheet or take a screenshot of each network interface parameter
(Ctrl+Print Screen) and save to a text editor like Note Pad.
c. Delete all the CPCommOS interfaces using SAILCC.
2. Install the optional portion of the Compatibility Package- 2.1-CP12.1SAILCC-NET.sup.
Refer to “Migration for Dorado 4000” in Section 7 for more information on the
Compatibility Package. You will notice that the first two icons are different from the
previous level. The icon, System Control LAN, allows you to establish a resilient
bond of ETH0. The icon, OS2200 Interfaces, is helpful when creating your
CPCommOS configuration. You need to supply a SLOT, DEVICE, and FUNCTION for
each configured network interface. Refer to the Communications Platform for Open
System Configuration and Operations Guide for a description of the SLOT, DEVICE,
and FUNCTION parameters on the NIC-INTERFACE configuration statement.
a. Use this information to finish creating the CPCommOS configuration that was
started in step 1(a).
b. SAILCC-NET is still used to configure a resilient backup for the System Control
LAN, configure DNS, and configure the SSL/TLS files. Perform this step, if it is
applicable.
3. From OS 2200 Console View screen, set Jump Key 3 and $! the Partition. On the
Server Management Control, deactivate, activate, and start the partition.
4. Install the ClearPath OS 2200 12.1 software or in particular, CPCommOS 3R1A. Use
the configuration that you created in the previous steps to initialize CPCommOS.
You can choose to delay migrating to the new configuration process in CPCommOS
3R1A and still upgrade your CPCommOS to 3R1A. In this case, you need to remain on
the existing version of SAILCC-NET, that is, do not install the optional portion of the
Compatibility Package - 2.1-CP12.1SAILCC-NET.sup. Continue to configure your network
interfaces through SAILCC-NET and DO NOT configure these network interfaces in the
CPCommOS configuration. You must be using the new CPCommOS configuration
process to configure your network interfaces by CP 13.0.
