utility
V
A program that provides a simple interface for the administrator to Exec and TIP file
control services. TIP utilities are installed in a TIP system file when TIPUTIL is installed
on the system.
validation table (VALTAB)
A structure that TIP uses for locating and executing TIP programs. The system creates
the VALTAB in a TIP system file. For each TIP program, the administrator uses the
VTBUTL utility to create a VALTAB entry that identifies a unique transaction code and
program number for the program and its loading and execution attributes.
VALTAB index (VINDEX)
A separate area in the VALTAB file to help TIP locate TIP programs registered in the
VALTAB.
VTBUTL utility
The TIP utility that the administrator uses to create VALTAB entries for TIP programs, in
order to register them with TIP. The administrator also uses the utility to change or
delete entries in the VALTAB.

XTCEXEC
A feature used in XTC environments that allows application programs running on multiple
hosts to access shared TIP files.
