TREG utility
A TIP utility that the administrator can use to register an Exec file with TIP. However,
FREIPS is the preferred TIP file control utility.

UCS
UCS C
See Universal Compiling System (UCS).
The compiler used on OS 2200 systems to compile extended mode programs written in
the C programming language.
UCS COBOL
The compiler used on OS 2200 systems to compile extended mode programs written in
the COBOL programming language.
UCS FORTRAN
The compiler used on OS 2200 systems to compile extended mode programs written in
the FORTRAN programming language.
UDS
See Universal Data System.
UDS Control
The component of the Universal Data System that controls locking, cache management,
recovery, system table control, and thread control for all UDS data management facilities.
UDS/TIP file
See TIP file.
Unisys Repository Manager (UREP)
A container for data objects and other database information used by components of
UDS. Programmers can use UREP to define runstreams and programs that use the data
contained in UREP.
Unit Duplexing
An Exec feature that maintains two disk devices with identical information. This disk
redundance method ensures data integrity and availability in the event that a disk, disk
device, or file failure occurs. See also duplex files; TIP file duplexing.
Universal Compiling System (UCS)
A feature grouping that includes the UCS COBOL, UCS FORTRAN, and UCS C compilers
and the Linking System. UCS produces extended mode programs.
Universal Data System (UDS)
A system for complete database creation and management that includes UDS Control
and its three data managers, DMS 2200, RDMS 2200, and SFS 2200. UDS provides
access to any of the databases.
