Virtual Machine for Java Platform (JVM)
The following steps must be completed in order to retain utilization data on a "new"
Windows Vista platform:
1. Verify that Database Management is configured in the URU User Interface on the
current Windows platform. The deletion of data should be enabled to retain only the
data necessary to transfer.
2. Stop the URU Service on the current Windows platform. If the URU Service is not
running, start it and then stop it to ensure that the data that meets the data deletion
criteria will be purged from the current URU database.
3. Create the appropriate folder hierarchy on the Windows Vista platform. Some of the
higher level folders may already exist. The default installation location is:
Program Files\Unisys\Utilization Report Utility
In which, the 'Data' folder must be created to store the utilization data. An alternate
installation location can be setup; however, be sure to indicate this alternate location
during the installation process so that any existing data can be upgraded
appropriately.
The full folder path must be setup on the Windows Vista platform:
\Data
4. Copy the URU.MDB file from the 'Data' folder on the current Windows platform to
the 'Data' folder on the Windows Vista platform.
5. Install URU 4.0 using the delivered CD. Again, be sure to change the default
installation path to match the folder path setup in step 3, if it is not the default
installation path. The upgrade process will be initiated as part of the installation, and
any data in the transferred URU.MDB file will be upgraded.
Note: If no data transfer is necessary, simply install URU 4.0 without any initial
setup required.
5.53. Virtual Machine for Java Platform (JVM)
General Considerations
• You must install CIFS before you install JVM. This is necessary because the Java
core classes are copied into the CIFS directory /java/jre/lib during installation. CIFS
must also be available during execution of any Java program.
• If you still have an old UPAS front end installed, you must remove it before you
install JVM; otherwise you will get a PRODLD error indicating a BDI conflict.
• Since the JVM product files that reside in CIFS files are not restored by LIBLOAD, an
addstream has been provided in SYS$LIB$*JVM$LIB.MAKELIB to restore JVM on
ClearPath OS 2200 product files into CIFS files after a LIBLOAD. However, there is
one JVM product file, /java/jre/lib/security/cacerts that might have been modified
since it was installed. For this file, you should make a copy before doing a LIBSAVE
and restore it after doing the LIBLOAD and adding MAKELIB. If you don't do this
save and restore, MAKELIB will restore /java/jre/lib/security/cacerts to its original
version.
• For information on requirements for JVM sockets and net functionality, refer to the
Virtual Machine for the Java Platform User Guide.
