fixed mass storage
Disks used for storing data that are logically defined as fixed (always present). Fixed
mass storage is viewed by the Exec as one continuous pool of storage that consists of
one or more disks. See also mass storage, removable mass storage.
Freespace file
See TIP file.
Freespace Integrated Processing System (FREIPS) utility
The TIP file control utility that the administrator uses to create and maintain FCSS or
Freespace files. FREIPS is intended as a replacement for the TREG and TFUR TIP file
control utilities.

High-Volume Transaction Processing (HVTIP)
A group of performance options applied to TIP. HVTIP programs consist of brief modules
that are compiled and linked independently as program banks and then executed in
sequence.
HVTIP program library
A TIP file created by the system to hold HVTIP program banks, which the administrator
copies into the library by means of the TPUR utility. There can be up to 64 HVTIP libraries
on a system, numbered 0 through 63. A library can contain extended mode HVTIP
ZOOMs or basic mode absolute programs.

A TIP primitive that basic mode transaction programs can call to request input. See also
multiple initialization.
initial control program (ICP)
The program used in HVTIP applications to initiate a transaction sequence. All modules
defined for the transaction are called from within the initial control program.
input message
The transaction code and data that an application user enters at a TIP terminal in order to
execute an application program.
integrated recovery
OS 2200 features that ensure database integrity and recoverability and, optionally,
message recovery for TIP applications.
Integrated Recovery Utility (IRU)
The utility used in OS 2200 environments to recover programs, databases, and
messages after a system or application failure.
