Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) Support<br />

The IXS4000-CSU style, which previously denoted the 40 bit encryption strength, will<br />

remain <strong>and</strong> will continue to be included in the <strong>ClearPath</strong> IOE.<br />

The IXS4000-CSU style utilizes the CPComm encryption libraries (which were<br />

released with <strong>ClearPath</strong> 11.0); therefore WebTS will support the full range of<br />

encryption strength without having the embedded (in WebTS) encryption libraries.<br />

The 128-bit encryption strength style of WebTS is no longer be valid beginning with<br />

<strong>ClearPath</strong> 12.0, because the IXS4000-CSU style will support (using CPComm) the<br />

128 <strong>and</strong> even stronger levels of encryption.<br />

3.2. Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) Support<br />

The implementation of the IPv6 st<strong>and</strong>ard is introduced in the <strong>ClearPath</strong> <strong>OS</strong> <strong>2200</strong> <strong>Release</strong><br />

12.1. The <strong>ClearPath</strong> <strong>OS</strong> <strong>2200</strong> 13.0 release extended IPv6 support for the Dorado 4000<br />

<strong>and</strong> 4100 systems. There are two ways for a product to adapt to support the IPv6<br />

networks; they can either use the Bump-in-the-API feature or use the IPv6 APIs.<br />

IPv6/IPv4 Address Translation (Bump-in-the-API feature)<br />

Existing <strong>ClearPath</strong> <strong>OS</strong> <strong>2200</strong> IPv4 applications can operate over an IPv6 network by using<br />

the feature Bump-in-the-API in Communications Platform. This feature translates IPv6<br />

addresses to arbitrary private IPv4 addresses. The private IPv4 addresses are passed to<br />

the <strong>ClearPath</strong> <strong>OS</strong> <strong>2200</strong> IPv4 application instead of the real IPv6 addresses.<br />

IPv6 APIs<br />

<strong>ClearPath</strong> <strong>OS</strong> <strong>2200</strong> applications can operate over an IPv6 network <strong>and</strong> use real IPv6<br />

addresses within Communications Platform applications by revising the applications to<br />

use new Communications Platform IPv6 procedure calls.<br />

<strong>ClearPath</strong> <strong>OS</strong> <strong>2200</strong> Products that Support IPv6<br />

CPComm<strong>OS</strong>, DDP-PPC, <strong>and</strong> ECLIPSE-<strong>2200</strong> have updated in the <strong>ClearPath</strong> <strong>OS</strong> <strong>2200</strong> 13.0<br />

release to include support of the IPv6 feature. CIFS, JVM, <strong>and</strong> WebTS are updated to<br />

fully support IPv6 using the IPv6 APIs. The following table lists all of the <strong>ClearPath</strong><br />

<strong>OS</strong> <strong>2200</strong> products that support the IPv6 feature.<br />
