BDI Groups<br />

At present, the BDIs at the application level of the address tree are allocated into three<br />

groups:<br />

• Group 1: Fixed (between 1 <strong>and</strong> MAXBDI)<br />

• Group 2: Dynamic Code <strong>and</strong> Data (between MAXBDI+1 <strong>and</strong> 4095)<br />

• Group 3: Dynamic Code (between 4096 <strong>and</strong> 32766)<br />

GROUP 3 -----------------4096 through 32766--------------------------<br />

Application Level Dynamic BDIs<br />

Used for Extended Mode Code & Data banks. This is<br />

the default for EM Code banks:<br />

Exec: GAP/SAP=Execute<br />

Linking System: BANK_TYPE=CODE<br />

GROUP 2--------------------------4095------------------------------<br />

Application Level Dynamic BDIs (974 total BDIs)<br />

Used for Extended Mode Code & Data banks. This is<br />

the default for EM Data banks:<br />

Exec: GAP/SAP=Execute<br />

Linking System: BANK_TYPE=CODE<br />

Used when there are no banks > 4095 available.<br />

Used for Linking System control banks (2 per subsystem).<br />

GROUP 1---------------------MAXBDI (3121 default)------------------<br />

FIXED BDIs (3121 total, 866 customer, 2255 'Unisys')<br />

Used for Basic Mode Common banks.<br />

Used for Object Module Subsystem Fixed Gate banks.<br />

Note: Group 3 banks cannot be referenced from basic mode. Also, any Executive<br />

Requests (ER) that reference BDIs in E,BDI (basic mode) format cannot be used with<br />

banks that have BDIs larger than 4095.<br />
