absolute element<br />

An executable basic mode program produced by the Collector after being compiled by an<br />

ASCII compiler.<br />

application group<br />

The designation for an application (database, programs, <strong>and</strong> audit trail) that is defined<br />

through Exec step control in <strong>OS</strong> <strong>2200</strong>. A site can define up to nine application groups,<br />

numbered 1 through 9. An application group can be local (accessible to only one host),<br />

switchable (accessible to both hosts in a Partitioned Applications environment), or<br />

concurrent (accessible to all hosts in an XTC environment). TIP system files that must be<br />

accessed by all application groups are stored in the null application group. The null<br />

application group is automatically configured when the TIP system is generated, <strong>and</strong> is<br />

assigned to application group 0.<br />

application program<br />

A program that is designed to run in a transaction processing system.<br />

application user<br />

A person who enters a transaction code at a TIP terminal in order to execute a program<br />

belonging to a TIP application.<br />

ARF<br />

ASCII COBOL<br />

A programming language used to create transaction application programs. ASCII COBOL<br />

conforms to the ANSI st<strong>and</strong>ard for COBOL compilers.<br />

ASCII FORTRAN<br />

A programming language used to create transaction application programs. ASCII<br />

FORTRAN conforms to the ANSI st<strong>and</strong>ard for FORTRAN compilers.<br />

audit control<br />

The Exec feature that keeps track of recoverable events on the audit trail for an<br />

application group. The audit trail can be used to roll back or apply database updates after<br />

a program or system failure.<br />
