Service Information<br />

1. Raising the Hood<br />

When raising the hood on early <strong>Cadillac</strong> or<br />

LaSalle cars not provided with hood rest brackets,<br />

it should be set upright with the heavy rubber<br />

bumper on the hood cover resting on the antisqueak<br />

strip on the cowl as shown in Fig. 1.<br />

In addition to preventing damage to the finish<br />

of the hood, this method makes it possible to raise<br />

both sides of the hood at the same time. Later<br />

cars are equipped with a hood rest bracket on<br />

each side of the cowl in which the hood may be<br />

rested securely in the raised position.<br />

Fig.[l. When the hood is raised on early cars not provided<br />

with hood rest brackets, it should be supported<br />

by the rubber bumper on the corner of the hood resting<br />

on the cowl
