Ghumar areas to replace the <strong>Kurds</strong> as part of the racist<br />

Arab belt project.<br />

In the beginning of 1967 the Syrian authorities started<br />

the second stage of their racist project by carrying out<br />

armed raids against the Kurdish villages to terrorize the<br />

Kurdish population into leaving the Kurdish border areas<br />

<strong>and</strong> replace them with Arab subjects.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Syrian government actually did this <strong>and</strong> started<br />

with the heroic village of Ali Fro, but its population<br />

challenged the Intelligence <strong>and</strong> police officials by sitting<br />

in front of the Syrian armed <strong>and</strong> military vehicles <strong>and</strong><br />

declared: run over us <strong>and</strong> kill us but we shall never leave<br />

our place. So, the authorities arrested more than two<br />

hundred <strong>Kurds</strong> from that village, the majority of whom<br />

were women <strong>and</strong> children. <strong>The</strong>y were driven to Hasaka<br />

prison with their blood flowing from the intense beating<br />

with rifle butts <strong>and</strong> boots of the chauvinist Arabs. Faced<br />

with this st<strong>and</strong> of the heroic Kurdish masses the Syrian<br />

authorities reviewed their method of implementing their<br />

project of Arab belt <strong>and</strong> resolved to another method by<br />

settling the Arab subjects in the area <strong>and</strong> building<br />

exemplary villages for them beside each Kurdish village<br />

giving them the l<strong>and</strong>s of the Kurdish village <strong>and</strong> supplying<br />

them with water, electricity, supply institutions, all<br />

services <strong>and</strong> every other public services necessary for<br />

modern life, while depriving the Kurdish village from<br />

such services. In addition those Arabs were given arms<br />

<strong>and</strong> exempted from military services as the Syrian<br />

government regarded them as being in the front against<br />

the second Israel as the Arab chauvinism enjoys calling<br />

<strong>Kurdistan</strong>.. Is <strong>Kurdistan</strong> really a second Israel? Or they<br />

with their racist policies are creating a second Palestinian<br />

tragedy!! Thus since 1967 the Kurdish people on the<br />
