A successful Kurdish demonstration in front of the<br />

office of the British government<br />

On 25/8/2004 the Western <strong>Kurdistan</strong> Government in<br />

Exile, Western <strong>Kurdistan</strong> Association, <strong>Kurdistan</strong> <strong>Nation</strong>al<br />

Congress, the High Committee of the Referendum for<br />

the Independence of <strong>Kurdistan</strong> <strong>and</strong> the Kurdish<br />

community in the UK organised a mass demonstration in<br />

front of the office of the British Prime Minister. At one<br />

o’clock pm a delegation of six participants of the<br />

demonstration was met by the Mr Tony Blair’s secretary<br />

who received the dem<strong>and</strong>s of the demonstrators to put<br />

the Western <strong>Kurdistan</strong> (<strong>Kurdistan</strong> of Syria) under<br />

international protection as a step towards independence<br />

<strong>and</strong> send investigation committees regarding the killing<br />

of <strong>Kurds</strong> in the streets of Kurdish towns, <strong>and</strong> killing<br />

Kurdish prisoners under torture, in Syria. In this regard<br />

some documents were delivered among which was a live<br />

video of the killing of the <strong>Kurds</strong> in the streets of Qamishli<br />

by the h<strong>and</strong>s of Baathist chauvinist gangs during the<br />

great Kurdish uprising on 12/3/2004.<br />

<strong>The</strong> demonstrators dem<strong>and</strong>ed also to carry out a<br />

referendum in all the parts of <strong>Kurdistan</strong> <strong>and</strong> for this<br />

purpose a file of 10,000 signatures gathered from the<br />

Kurdish community in the UK was delivered to the office<br />

of the British PM for a referendum in <strong>Kurdistan</strong> for<br />

independence.<br />
