Chapter I<br />

Kurdish Governments from ancient times<br />

until the arrival of Islam<br />

Anyone looking into the history of his own nations<br />

needs, first <strong>and</strong> foremost has to research into its native<br />

l<strong>and</strong> of origin. According to most researchers specialised<br />

in the East, this native l<strong>and</strong> is the one traced back to the<br />

second human era. It was inhabited from the early ages<br />

of human history by the nations in the Zagros mountains<br />

composed of the Lulu <strong>and</strong> the Gutti - Jutti.<br />

And the Khaldeans, the Sumarians <strong>and</strong> Hurians. All<br />

these ancient peoples form the ancient roots of the Kurdish<br />

people that have displayed strong political activity in the<br />

epochs of each of the Sumerians, Acadian <strong>and</strong> the<br />

Assyrians.<br />

In addition, there were waves of migration of Arian<br />

(Indo-European) race towards the Zagros Mountains, first<br />

to their East <strong>and</strong> eventually to their West. Curzon, the<br />

researcher says in his preface to his travels in Iran:<br />

“It is highly likely that these migratory movements<br />

happened 20 centuries BC. <strong>The</strong>se migrants colonised the<br />

peoples of the Zagros mountains <strong>and</strong> <strong>Kurdistan</strong> <strong>and</strong> made<br />

them subject to their own Kings turning them all into<br />

Aryans. <strong>The</strong> Medeans were the greatest <strong>and</strong> strongest of<br />

these migrant populations.<br />
