KURDISH DEMONSTRATION IN LONDON<br />

On Saturday 26/7/2003 from 12 to 3 pm the Kurdish<br />

community in the UK organised a demonstration in front<br />

of the Syrian embassy in London. Several organisations,<br />

Kurdish personalities <strong>and</strong> their friends participated in<br />

solidarity with the struggle of the Kurdish people in their<br />

homel<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> in support to the peaceful Kurdish<br />

demonstrations that took place on 25/6/2003 in Damascus<br />

<strong>and</strong> on 30/6/2003 in Aleppo that resulted in the arrest of<br />

dozens <strong>and</strong> several Kurdish children injured.<br />

<strong>The</strong> demonstrators expressed their solidarity by raising<br />

the flag of <strong>Kurdistan</strong> <strong>and</strong> shouting <strong>and</strong> written banners<br />

in English, Arabic <strong>and</strong> Kurdish such as:<br />

- Independence <strong>and</strong> freedom for the <strong>Kurds</strong> in the<br />

Western <strong>Kurdistan</strong> annexed by Syria.<br />

- Racist <strong>and</strong> terrorist Syrian regime, get out of <strong>Kurdistan</strong>.<br />

- Freedom for the Kurdish political prisoners.<br />

- Shame for the 21st century that <strong>Kurds</strong> are still in<br />

slavery <strong>and</strong> <strong>Kurdistan</strong> is colonised.<br />

- Asad = Terrorism.<br />

- <strong>Kurdistan</strong> for the <strong>Kurds</strong>.<br />

<strong>The</strong> demonstrators expressed their feelings to condemn<br />

the oppressive inhumane practices of the racist Syrian<br />

regime against the Kurdish people <strong>and</strong> the Syrian people<br />

by using Kurdish traditional music instruments <strong>and</strong> dances<br />

<strong>and</strong> simultaneous whistling that created an unusual noise<br />

in the streets of London.<br />
