The c<strong>on</strong>trol objective for weed c<strong>on</strong>trol class 4 is <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> minimise the negative impact <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> those<br />

plants <strong>on</strong> the ec<strong>on</strong>omy, community or envir<strong>on</strong>ment <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> NSW.<br />

NAME OF WEED: Harrisia Cactus<br />

Comm<strong>on</strong> name: Harrisia Cactus<br />

Scientific names: Harrisia species<br />

The above menti<strong>on</strong>ed weed is a noxious weed declared under secti<strong>on</strong> 7 <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the Noxious Weeds Act 1993.<br />

CONTROL MEASURES FOR THE WEED AS PER ORDER 19<br />

Class 4: “The growth and spread <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the plant must <str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>trolled according <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> the measures specified<br />

in a management plan published by the local c<strong>on</strong>trol authority and the plant may not <str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g> sold,<br />

propagated or knowingly distributed”.<br />

The above local c<strong>on</strong>trol authority specifies the following c<strong>on</strong>trol measures:<br />

Biological c<strong>on</strong>trols must <str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g> released <strong>on</strong> all infestati<strong>on</strong>s/ plants.If biological c<strong>on</strong>trol agents are not<br />

available or cannot <str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g> accessed, the plant must <str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g> removed.<br />

All herbicide use should <str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g> undertaken with a registered herbicide as specified <strong>on</strong> the herbicide<br />

product la<str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g>l or relevant <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>f-la<str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g>l permit published by the Australian Pesticides & Veterinary Medicines<br />

Authority.<br />

Dig out all parts <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the plant, both above and underground, and dispose <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> in rubbish. All tu<str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g>rs must<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g> removed and destroyed.<br />

infested with Harrisia Cactus. 1<br />
