Herbicide c<strong>on</strong>trol<br />

If roots are firmly caught in cracks in s<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>ne walls or c<strong>on</strong>crete, herbicide may need <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g> used. Apply<br />

the herbicide <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> the plants while actively growing, and prior <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> flowering if possible. Spray the plants<br />

thoroughly for effective treatment.<br />

SPECIAL NOTES:<br />

1. Asthma Weed pollen may cause asthma, c<strong>on</strong>junctivitis, rhinitis and hay fever. C<strong>on</strong>tact with plants<br />

may cause skin rashes and other allergic reacti<strong>on</strong>s. It is recommended that l<strong>on</strong>g clothing, a dust<br />

mask or half face respira<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>r, eye protecti<strong>on</strong> (goggles or glasses) and protective gloves <str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g> worn when<br />

handling the weed.<br />

2. Follow up treatment will need <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> occur within three weeks <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> initial treatment, and may need <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

repeated several times <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> eradicate this weed. It is crucial <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>trol Asthma Weed prior <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> seeding.<br />

3. Mulch bare soils <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> reduce regrowth.<br />

SECTION 12 OBLIGATIONS (from the Noxious Weeds Act 1993)<br />

Private occupiers <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> land must c<strong>on</strong>trol noxious weeds <strong>on</strong> land.<br />

An occupier (other than a public authority or a local c<strong>on</strong>trol authority) <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> land <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> which a weed c<strong>on</strong>trol<br />

order applies must c<strong>on</strong>trol noxious weeds <strong>on</strong> the land as required under the order.<br />

Maximum penalty: 40 penalty units.<br />

Note: If an occupier fails <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> comply with obligati<strong>on</strong>s under a weed c<strong>on</strong>trol order, those obligati<strong>on</strong>s may <str<strong>on</strong>g>be</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

enforced against the owner <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the land as well as the occupier by a weed c<strong>on</strong>trol notice issued under secti<strong>on</strong><br />

<strong>18</strong>.<br />
