James Rennie and Nancy Pallin provided comment on the weed mapping data
and interpretation. It was discussed that trends in bushland condition will
occur over the long term and that such moni<strong>to</strong>ring and reporting <strong>of</strong> the data
must reflect this. It was decided that the <strong>meeting</strong> on Monday 20 Novem<strong>be</strong>r
2006 will review all moni<strong>to</strong>ring programs and how <strong>be</strong>st these can report on
changes <strong>to</strong> our natural systems.
BC&NARG 22 – Operational Plan
Manager Sustainability & Natural Environments explained that the operational
plan was the internal working program <strong>of</strong> the staff within the Natural
Environment and Sustainability sections <strong>of</strong> Council. The activities identified
were <strong>to</strong> enrich the Key Performance Indica<strong>to</strong>rs and other information provided
in the adopted Management Plan for 2006/2011. In terms <strong>of</strong> communicating <strong>to</strong>
mem<strong>be</strong>rs <strong>of</strong> groups the information in the Management Plan was <strong>to</strong> <strong>be</strong> used
and that Council staff would <strong>be</strong> able <strong>to</strong> discuss in person individual projects <strong>of</strong>
interest.
Nancy Pallin raised the importance and need for mutual <strong>be</strong>neficial
arrangements where Council sought corporate sponsorship. One model <strong>to</strong>
consider was though Greening Australia
BC&NARG 23 – Noxious Weeds
Manager Sustainability & Natural Environments explained the process for the
changes <strong>to</strong> the Noxious Weeds Act and the need for Council <strong>to</strong> adopt the Class
4 weeds as identified.
Neroli Lock, James Rennie, Margaret Booth, Margery Street and Nancy Pallin
all commented on the list <strong>of</strong> weeds and the management pro<strong>to</strong>cols. As part <strong>of</strong>
the report <strong>to</strong> Council <strong>to</strong> adopt the Class 4 weeds and other administrative
processes the Reference Group sought the support <strong>of</strong> Council <strong>to</strong> lodge a
submission <strong>to</strong> the Department <strong>of</strong> Primary Industries seeking modification and
suggested improvements <strong>to</strong> the list. This summary would <strong>be</strong> included in the
minutes <strong>of</strong> the <strong>meeting</strong>.
