Water Pump<br />

• Be sure to replace the mechanical seal, oil seal, and O<br />

-ring with new ones because these parts will be damaged<br />

by removal.<br />

• Apply plenty of high temperature grease to the oil seal<br />

lips.<br />

Apply oil to the outer circumference of the oil seal.<br />

• Press the oil seal [A] into the water pump body [B] with<br />

the bearing driver [C] so that the spring side [D] of the<br />

seal lips is toward the inside of the water pump body.<br />

• Press the oil seal until it bottoms out.<br />

NOTE<br />

○Since the replacement mechanical seal has an adhesive<br />

coated body, do not apply a liquid gasket to the<br />

exterior surface of the body.<br />

• Press the flange [A] of the mechanical seal, using a collar<br />

[B] and a bearing driver [C] until the seal flange touches<br />

the step.<br />

Collar Inside Dia. :<br />

26.5 mm (1.<strong>04</strong>3 in.) ∼ 28 mm (1.102 in.)<br />

Collar Outside Dia. :<br />

31.7 mm (1.248 in.) or more<br />

Special Tool - Bearing Driver Set: 57001–1129<br />

• Clean both sliding surfaces of a new mechanical seal with<br />

a high-flash point solvent (e.g. ethyl alcohol), and apply a<br />

little coolant to the sliding surface to give the mechanical<br />

seal initial lubrication.<br />

• Apply coolant to the surface of the rubber seal [A] and<br />

sealing seat [B], and press [C] the rubber seal and sealing<br />

seat into the impeller by hand until the seat bottoms out.<br />

Torque - Water Pump Impeller Bolt: 9.8 N·m (1.0 kgf·m, 87<br />

in·lb)
