Ignition System<br />

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM 16-37<br />

WARNING<br />

The ignition system produces extremely high voltage.<br />

Do not touch the spark plugs or stick coils<br />

while the engine is running, or you could receive<br />

a severe electrical shock.<br />

CAUTION<br />

Do not disconnect the battery cables or any other<br />

electrical connections when the ignition switch is<br />

on, or while the engine is running. This is to prevent<br />

ECU (Electrical Control Unit) damage.<br />

Do not install the battery backwards. The negative<br />

side is grounded. This is to prevent damage to the<br />

diodes and ECU.<br />

Crankshaft Sensor Removal<br />

• Remove:<br />

Frame Cover (see Frame chapter)<br />

Crankshaft Sensor Lead Connector [A]<br />

• Remove:<br />

Rubber Boot (slide out) [A]<br />

Oil Pressure Switch Lead Terminal [B]<br />

Crankshaft Sensor Cover Bolts [C] with Clamps<br />

Crankshaft Sensor Cover [D]<br />

• Remove the crankshaft sensor [A] by taking off the crankshaft<br />

sensor bolts [B].
