TECHNICIAN DIPLOMA - MARINE ENGINEERING<br />

MISSION<br />

The <strong>Marine</strong> Engineering Technician program is specifically<br />

designed for Naval Engineering students pursuing a career with<br />

the Canadian Navy. Courses are designed to provide a solid<br />

foundation for the underst<strong>and</strong>ing of engine room machinery <strong>and</strong><br />

auxiliary equipment, as well as engine room operations.<br />

PROGRAM OVERVIEW<br />

• <strong>Marine</strong> Engineering Knowledge<br />

• Workshop practice <strong>and</strong> Machining<br />

• Electrotechnology<br />

• Electronics <strong>and</strong> Instrumentation<br />

Accreditation Status:<br />

The <strong>Marine</strong> Engineering Technician program is nationally<br />

accredited by the Canadian Council of Technicians <strong>and</strong><br />

Technologists/ Canadian Technology Accreditation Board<br />

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS<br />

Applicants seeking entry into the marine Engineering Technician<br />

program must meet Canadian Navy physical fitness criteria.<br />

PROGRAM STRUCTURE<br />

Length of the Program:<br />

• 2 Years<br />

Number of Semesters:<br />

• 4 <strong>Academic</strong> Terms<br />

Number of Courses:<br />

• 26 courses<br />

Evaluation:<br />

The minimum passing grade for all courses in the <strong>Marine</strong><br />

Engineering Technician program is 50%. A cumulative average<br />

of 60% must also be maintained throughout the course of the<br />

program.<br />
