Work Term<br />

WKTM 0011 (Work Term - Bridge Watch Program)<br />

Students who are placed in a sea-based work term, must<br />

complete a minimum of 60 Transport Canada approved calendar<br />

days as a bridge watch trainee signed onboard a ship. They<br />

must have documented Transport Canada testimonials of sea<br />

service <strong>and</strong> must complete the Bridge Watch Program training<br />

book . Successful completion of the training book along with<br />

a satisfactory employee evaluation will qualify for graduate<br />

eligibility <strong>and</strong> to challenge the Transport Canada Bridge Watch<br />

Rating Certification Exam. This course covers the requirement of<br />

the Transport Canada TP 10936E (Bridge Watch Rating Training<br />

Course).<br />

Applicants to the <strong>Marine</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> are advised that employers may<br />

require a criminal record check as part of the recruitment <strong>and</strong><br />

selection process for work term placement<br />
