BSMG 3204 (Ship Management)<br />

This is an advanced level course in shipboard management<br />

practices. It follows, <strong>and</strong> is an addition to, BSMG 3116. It builds<br />

on previous knowledge <strong>and</strong> addresses such advanced topics as<br />

Port State Control <strong>and</strong> Management Practices in the Multi-ethnic<br />

Environment commonly found aboard ships at sea.<br />

The course is designed to give students advanced materials<br />

leading to an underst<strong>and</strong>ing of ship control <strong>and</strong> inspection under<br />

port state principles, ship management in today’s personnel<br />

environment, crisis management <strong>and</strong> managing in other adverse<br />

situations such as those found in ice navigation operations.<br />

The purpose of this course is to provide the student with<br />

knowledge <strong>and</strong> opportunities for practical use of various IMO <strong>and</strong><br />

Transport Canada conventions <strong>and</strong> regulations.<br />

This course is designed to give participants of the current<br />
