appropriate to the functions of crew members of ships. It complies<br />
with or exceeds the requirements of Transport Canada’s (<strong>Marine</strong><br />
Safety Directorate), <strong>Marine</strong> Emergency Duties B1.<br />

This is a basic first aid training course for seafarers that meets<br />
IMO: STCW Regulation VI/ 4 <strong>and</strong> STCW Code Section A-V1/ 4,<br />
<strong>and</strong> requirements under TP 13008 Training St<strong>and</strong>ards for <strong>Marine</strong><br />
First Aid <strong>and</strong> <strong>Marine</strong> Medical Care. This course is designed for<br />
seafarers who would apply immediate basic first aid in the event<br />
of an accident or illness onboard a vessel.<br />
General Principles, Body Structure <strong>and</strong> Functions, Positioning<br />
of Casualty, the Unconscious Casualty, Resuscitation, Control<br />
Bleeding, Management of Shock, Burns, Scalds, <strong>and</strong> Accidents<br />

SFTY 1105 (MED C - Officer Certification)<br />
This <strong>Marine</strong> Emergency Duties course is designed for junior<br />
officers <strong>and</strong> key personnel. It gives the student the knowledge<br />
<strong>and</strong> skills necessary to inspect, maintain, <strong>and</strong> effectively<br />
utilize their equipment to resend to any shipboard emergency.<br />
The course is approved by Transport Canada <strong>and</strong> meets the<br />
international convention on st<strong>and</strong>ards of training certification<br />
<strong>and</strong> watchkeeping for seafarers (STCW 1978). Deck officers<br />
<strong>and</strong> engineering officers requiring a Continued Proficiency<br />
Endorsement are required to complete this course.<br />
