About Optimizing Projects
You can optimize a project at the project, page, and view or tab level by using the progressive loading of data settings.
Optimizing a project refers to managing when data is transferred to the mobile user's device. For example, a project
page that contains a View Set widget, by design, does not display every piece of information at the same time. The views
that are not currently active do not display. Therefore it is not necessary to transfer all project data when rendering the
page's initial view. You can optimize the time it takes to load the initial page by transferring data, such as images, only
when the user performs an action to display the data, for example, when the user changes a view.
The optimize settings appear at the following levels:
• Project level–You can set the Preload all assets or Don't preload any assets optimize settings at the project
level. When you create a new project, by default, all assets, except background images, are automatically preloaded.
If you want some pages not to preload assets, keep the project level setting on and turn on the page level
Load on demand setting. See "Optimizing at the Project Level" on page 134.
• Page level–You can set the Load on demand and Preload images settings at the page level. If the project level
preload assets setting is active and you set the Load on demand setting to be active on a page, then only this page
is set to load data (including images) on demand. In other words, the page level load on demand setting overrides
the project level preload images setting. In addition, you can set the page level preload images setting to be
active. In this case everything but the images are loaded on demand and the images are preloaded. See "Optimizing
at the Page Level" on page 138.
• View and tab level–Some widgets, for example, those that contain views and tabs, also include load on
demand and preload images settings. When these settings are active they override the project and page level settings.
For example, if the project level setting preload images is inactive and the page level setting load on
demand is active (but the preload images setting is not active), then activating a view or tab level load on demand
and preload images setting means only this view on this page is set to preload images. See "Optimizing at the View
or Tab Level" on page 141.
