About Media Widgets
5ml includes several Media widgets to create page elements in your project:
• Image widget: Creates an interactive image element. You can drag an image from the Assets pane to create an
image element. If you need a placeholder for an image asset that's not ready, you can drag an Image widget from
the Widgets pane and then drag an image from the Assets pane later to fill the element. You can assign an action
to the element to be performed when the user taps or clicks the image. You can also change the element's appearance
and layout on the page.
• Gallery widget: Creates an interactive gallery of images with controls for users to navigate back and forth through
the images. You drag multiple images from the Assets pane to fill the Gallery element. You can also change the element's
appearance and layout on the page.
• Audio widget: Creates an interactive audio element that plays automatically or offers controls for users to play,
pause, and turn off the sound. You can drag audio content from the Assets pane to create an audio element. If you
need a placeholder for a audio asset that's not ready to use, you can drag an Audio widget from the Widgets pane
and then drag an audio file from the Assets pane later to fill the element. You can also change the element's
appearance and layout on the page.
• Video widget: Creates an interactive video element that plays automatically or offers controls for users to play,
fast-forward, rewind, pause, and freely scrub through the video. You can drag a video from the Assets pane to
create a video element. If you need a placeholder for a video asset that's not ready to use, you can drag a Video
widget from the Widgets pane and then drag a video from the Assets pane later to fill the element. You can also
change the element's appearance and layout on the page.
• YouTube widget: Creates an interactive element for a YouTube video with controls for users to expand the video
to full screen, adjust the video's sound, and play, pause, and freely scrub through the video. You can also change
the element's appearance and layout on the page.
Click the Widgets tab at the top of the Library pane to show the Widgets pane in the Library. You can then select Media in
the drop-down menu under the Widgets tab, as shown in Figure 11-1 on page 262, to see the Image, Gallery, Audio,
Video, and YouTube widgets (or select All in the drop-down menu to see all widgets).
