Aligning Elements Using Page and Element Snap-to Grid Lines
When placing elements on a page you can use the snap-to grid lines to align elements. Snap-to works in two ways; snapto
align with a page grid line or snap-to align with another element.
The snap-to page grid lines are located at the vertical center and horizontal center of the page, as well as at each (top,
bottom, right, or left ) edge of the page, as shown in Figure 7-17 on page 179. The element's outline has six snap-to
points. This lets you align the element's top, bottom, right, or left edge with a page grid line or align its vertical center or
horizontal center to a page grid line. For example, you can align a Button element's bottom edge with the page's
horizontal center snap-to grid line, and align its vertical center points with the page's vertical center line snap-to grid line,
as shown in Figure 7-17 on page 179. Or, you can align a button element's top and left edges with the page's top and left
snap-to grid lines, also shown in Figure 7-17 on page 179.
The snap-to element grid lines are located at the vertical center and horizontal center of the element, as well as at each
(top, bottom, right, or left ) edge of the element, as shown in Figure 7-18 on page 180. (When an element is the same size
as the element it is being aligned too, for example, two Button elements with the default size, elements are aligned using
the left and top element grid lines.) The element's outline has six snap-to handles. This lets you align a second element to
the first element's top, bottom, right, or left edge using the first element's snap-to grid lines. For example, you can align a
button element's top edge with another element's top snap-to grid line, as shown in Figure 7-18 on page 180.
