Using the Password Input Widget
The Password Input widget lets you add a password entry field to a form or page. The actual password characters do not
display when a user enters them. You can change the element's appearance, including the text font family and size, text
formatting within the element, character spacing, and its layout on the page. You can also add prompt text to inform the
user of the type of content to be entered. In addition you can define the maximum number of characters that can be
entered into the password field.
To place a Password Input element on a page, drag the Password Input widget from the Common tab of the Widgets
pane to the Canvas. You can then resize, align, and arrange the element to fit your page design (for details, see "Working
in the Project Editor" on page 154).
To customize the Password Input element, select the element on the page or in the Page Outline pane, as shown in Figure
9-10 on page 253. The Properties pane for the element appears on the right side of the Project Editor.
To inform the user of the type of content to enter into the field, in the Prompt Text field on the General tab, enter prompt
text; for example, Enter Password. To set a limit for the maximum number of characters to enter, in the Max Chars field,
enter the maximum number of characters.
You can customize the element by changing properties in the Properties pane:
• The General tab lets you define the element's optional ID and prompt text. You can also limit the maximum
number of characters allowed to be entered into the field. For details, see "Changing General Properties" on page
197.
