Changing General Properties
The General tab of the Properties pane lets you define an element's object ID (identifier), which can be used with HTML5
markup, CSS3 style sheets, and JavaScript scripts to refer to the specific element.
Most elements created from widgets also offer a unique set of General properties that you can change — for details, refer
to each widget's description.
To change an element's General properties, select the element on the page or in the Page Outline pane. The Properties
pane for the element appears on the right side of the Project Editor, and the General tab is at the top of the Properties
pane, as shown in Figure 8-2 on page 197.
Object ID
You can enter the element's object ID attribute in the ID field in the General tab of the Properties pane. While it is not
necessary to enter an object ID, the ID can be used with HTML5 markup, CSS3 style sheets, and JavaScript scripts to
refer to this specific element. The ID can be a word or any sequence of alphanumeric characters — such as "gallery_
button1" shown in Figure 8-2 on page 197.
Track in analytics
If a page element supports tracking, the Track in analytics check box appears on the element's General tab. The Track in
analytics check box only appears if you have enabled tracking at the project level. For more information, see "Adding Site
Tracking" on page 374.
