CHAPTER 13: Using Layout and Navigation Widgets To change the Scroll View element's properties, click the element on the page, or click Scroll View in the Page Outline pane. The Properties pane for the Scroll View element appears on the right side of the Project Editor with the following tabs: • The General tab lets you define the element's optional ID and choose to display scroll bars, and the scroll bar type (vertical, horizontal, or both). For details, see "Changing General Properties" on page 197. • The Appearance tab lets you set the element's background, border, and opacity, and add a shadow to the element. These settings are applied to the entire Scroll View element; to change the appearance settings for each element within the Scroll View element, select each element first. For details, see "Changing Appearance Properties" on page 198. • The Layout tab lets you set the size of the entire Scroll View element and its position on the page, and the amount of padding within the element. You can also constrain the proportions of the element so that the aspect ratio stays the same when freely resizing it on the Canvas. For details, see "Changing Layout Properties" on page 214. • The Behavior tab lets you associate the Scroll View element with an event and an action to be performed. 5ml User's Guide Using the Tab Set Widget The Tab Set widget lets you create a page element that holds sets of other elements and shows them one at a time. Users can navigate to each set by tapping or clicking tabs along the top of the Tab Set element — similar to the way users click tabs at the top of a web page to see different "pages" of content. The Tab Set widget is a good choice when you need to provide sets of elements on a single page, with each set defined by a tab title. The tab titles should be short and fit on one row across the page. The elements in each set, or tab "page," can be any other page elements. Because Tab Sets can contain many tabs and therefore a lot of data (including images), this widget lets you choose Load on demand and Preload Images options at the tab level. For more information, see "Optimizing at the View or Tab Level" on page 141. To place the widget on a page and create a Tab Set element, drag the widget from the Navigation section of the Widgets pane to the Canvas. You can then resize, align, and arrange the element, as shown in Figure 13-2 on page 327, to fit your page design (for details, see "Working in the Project Editor" on page 154). You can also associate the Tab Set element with an event and an action to be performed when the user interacts with the Tab Set element. Figure 13-2: Placing a Tab Set widget into position on a page. To change the Tab Set element's properties, click the element on the page, or click Tab Set in the Page Outline pane on the lower left side of the Project Editor. The Properties pane for the Tab Set element appears on the right side of the Project Editor. After placing the Tab Set element on the page, you can add new tabs, give a title to each tab, and add assets from the Assets pane, or widgets from the Widgets pane to each tab.
